Antique Automaton William Summerbell “Rocking Horse and Rider” inscribed under rocker W. Summerbell. Measures 49cm to top of the rider 66cm wide and 12cm deep. The rider is a Cunno & Otto Dressel shoulderhead bisque, forehead rub, replaced wig, carved wood body with wire attached upper limbs to carved hands legs/boots, purple velvet dress has gold trim. Rider has a carved wood attachment to the clockwork mechanism but is no longer connected. The clockwork is working but no key is included. One hand grips the leather reins and the other holds the riding crop, leather saddle, horse and red rocker are all original with some paint rubs.
