Attributed to Alt, Beck & Gottschalck ‘Fanny Elssler’ Chinahead c1850s, 28″ (71cm). Fanny was a dancer, deep modeled hairstyle with central vee part that sweeps down each side to cover ears, and a braided coiled bun at back, some high point paint rubs, modeled part bust. Blue painted eyes, red / black lidlines, arched tapered black brows, cheek blush, closed red mouth with white space and protruding upper lip, patrician nose. Replaced cloth body with shaped black boots. Black vintage mourning cape with ruffles and lace trim, under garments with old inserted sunray pleated petticoat.
