Antique Automaton William Summerbell “Rocking Horse and Rider” inscribed W. Summerbell. Measures 49cm to the top of the rider 66cm wide and 12cm deep. The rider is a Cunno & Otto Dressel shoulderhead bisque, forehead rub, replaced wig, carved wood body with wire attached upper limbs to carved hands legs/boots, purple velvet dress has gold trim. The horse has reglued feet to the red rocker, with some paint rubs. Rider has a carved wood attachment to the clockwork mechanism but is no longer connected. The clockwork is working but no key is included. The hands grip the leather reins and riding crop, as well as a leather saddle.
