Extremely rare French Lavallee-Peronne ‘Lily’ Poupee c1865 doll 17″ (43cm). Paperweight glass eyes with outer dark blue ring, angled lashes, two-tone long arched excellent striated brows, black eyeliner, pink eye-corner and nostril accents. Partially smiling closed pink mouth with peak/center rose-red accents. Pierced ears with antique diamante earrings. Bisque socket head on a shoulderplate with a full hairline on each side of shoulders. Original cork pate with original tacked-on brown cloth bald wig, under a replaced curl mohair wig. Outstanding shapely kid leather Poupee torso with gusset-jointing at hips, kid-over-wood jointing at knees, kid-over-wood upper arms, bisque lower arms jointed at elbows, cupped hands with defined nails and knuckles. Original rare paper chest label “A La Poupee de Nuremberg, 21 Rue Choiseul, Trousseaux Complets, Reparations, Paris”. Pink taffeta dress with lace trim and whitewear onsie undergarment. Comments: This Poupee was presented in the doll boutique “A La Poupee de Nuremberg” owned by Madame Lavalle-Peronne, described in La Poupee Modele as a “dollmaker of exquisite taste”; she presented her poupee as “Lily”, defining the doll as her signature work. This one family-owned doll is a beautiful portrait-like model, rare to find, especially with original signature paper label, fine bisque, and painting of facial features.
